Dr. Renuka discussed investigative methods and applications of Rheumatoid factor (RF), Anti-CCP & new autoantibodies in Rheumatology. RF and Anti-CCP are remarkable antibodies currently used in the diagnosis and provide different clinical and pathophysiological information. Anti-CCP is more specific and has a high predictive value for RA development compared to RF.
Dr. Chandrashekara. S discussed the criteria for testing RF & Anti-CCP, the presence/absence of RF supporting the diagnosis of different diseases. RF and Anti-CCP positivity indicate features in RA. Antibodies may be useful in predicting response & outcome in RA and as a biomarker to type the pattern of Rheumatoid arthritis.
