Lecture on Gout

Dr. Ashwini Kamath discussed clinical features, pathogenesis, risk factors, diagnosis, and treatment of gouty arthritis in detail.  Gout is a systemic disease that results from the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in tissues. It occurs in men 2-6 folds more than in women. Serum uric acid levels are usually elevated in most gout patients, however, up to 30% may have normal levels at the time of an attack.
