In December 2021, U.S. FDA has approved the tofacitinib use to treat ankylosing spondylitis patients who are less responsive to TNF blockers. Tofacitinib has beneficial effects in treating ankylosing spondylitis i.e., it improves back stiffness in axial and peripheral disease.
